Before Auction / Free Valuation

Submit the following photos and information :

  • Clear color images of the front and back, a close-up of the signature or maker’s mark
  • Dimensions, medium and other available details.
  • History of the item (when, where and how it was acquired).
  • Copies of appraisals, any literature relating to the item or certificates of authenticity, if available.

Please send the above via email or via our form below.
Upon receiving the information, our specialists will study the item and suggest our estimated price via email.
Our suggested estimate price is determined based on the auction records of the comparable items fetched in the current auction market.
It should not be considered as any proof of authenticity, a guaranteed offer for purchase, or a guarantee of selling price.
Due to the high volume of requests, it may take a few days to respond to you.

2

Receiving your property

Once you decide to consign your items, we will confirm with you the date of sale (sale number), which will include your item, estimate price, and discuss if we should set a confidential minimum price, or reserve price.
If you consign the goods from overseas, a shipping fee from your location to Mainichi Auction (paid in advance on your side), a customs clearance fee, and import duty, etc. would be incurred.
We will guide you through further detailed procedures by email.
Please do not dispatch the parcel without our instruction since the items must be imported through Before Permit customs clearance. All outstanding costs can be deducted from our payment after the auction.

3

Final valuation

After receiving your property, we will inspect the items on our side, and our suggested estimate price may be revised upon the inspection. Upon receiving your agreement on the sale's terms, we will send you the Consignment Confirmation, on which the details of the property, sale's date, estimate price, etc. are listed.
Note: If a certificate of authenticity must be issued before the auction, the expenses will be at your charge.

4

Registration of your property

You will be asked to review your property’s catalog page and agree with its content. Upon confirmation, consignment fees must be paid to Mainichi Auction before the given registration deadline. Proof of identity must be shown to finalize registration.
