Mainichi Auction hosts pre-auction viewing for 2 to 3 days before each auction, exhibiting all listed lots.
Visitors are welcome to explore the viewings during the opening hours.
At viewings, you have the opportunity to inspect details and witness masterpieces in person.
Our specialists serve you for any concerns you might have regarding the artwork.

Glossary
- Auctioneer
A trained specialist who is responsible for conducting a sale by auction. The auctioneer has a right to decide the starting bid, final winning bidder, and the Hummer Price.
- Salesroom
A salesroom located within Mainichi Auction's Tokyo head office.On the day of the auction, real-time bidding are taken place in the salesroom. (online-sales excluded)
- Lot Number
A specific number assigned to an item listed in an auction.
It could be an individual item or group of items as a single unit.
Auctions proceed in numerical sequence by lot number.
- Estimate
An estimate is a reference price range that auction house sets based on the auction records of comparable items and the market prices.
This is not the basis for the actual sales prices.
- Reserve or Reserve Price
The reserve price is a confidential minimum price which the consignor of the lot is willing to accept to sell, and is agreed upon between the consignor and the auction house.
Whether or not a reserve price is disclosed to auction participants, each reserve price must not exceed its low estimate.
- No Estimate

This is for the lot with no estimate.
Lots for which the auction house cannot assertively evaluate information on an item or estimate selling price in the market, "no estimate" is stated.
The starting bid is decided by the auctioneer based on bidding conditions and etc., and can range from tens of thousands of yen to over hundreds of thousands of yen.- *The auction house is not responsible for the authenticity guarantee of lots stated as "no estimate".
- Pre-auction Viewing
Pre-auction viewing is held for 2 to 3 days before the auction, where all the lots are exhibited.
Anyone can visit to view without reservation during opening hours of the viewing. At viewings, you can hold the artworks in your hands to check details.
- Bid Number
A specific number assigned to participants for each auction.
Bidders participating in auction at the salesroom are given a paddle with bid number displayed upon entry.
When a bidding on your desired lot begins, simply raise a paddile to show your intention to participate to the auctioneer.
- LIVE BID

Participating in auction online from a computer/smartphone.
LIVE BID enables you to participate in the auction in real time from your home or anywhere with easy simple screen operations.- *LIVE BID registration is required for each sale.
- Hammer Price
The winning bid for a lot determined by the auctioneer.
The successful bidder will be charged the hammer price plus the applicable the buyer's premium.
- After Sale Offers
A service where you can purchase some unsold lots on a first-come basis within one week after the auction ends.
