Overview of Mainichi Auction

Founded in 1973.

Mainichi Auction went to become the largest auction house in Japan of fine art, European decorative arts, Japanese works of art, jewelry, watches and a variety of speciality categories. Based in Tokyo with branch office in Osaka, Mainichi Auction offers approximately 30-35 sales anually, attracting a broad base of buyers and consignors from around the world.

1989 Mainichi Art Auction holds the first public auction.

1973 Mainichi Communications Inc. (renamed as Mynavi Corporation in 2011) is established as an affiliated company of The Mainichi Newspapers, one of the most prestigious newspaper companies in Japan, for the purpose of publishing business, painting and fine arts import and sales. Our forerunner, Art and Auction Department of Mainichi Communications Inc. starts fine art business as a dealer and an art exhibition planner to introduce contemporary European and American prints into Japanese society.

2001 Mainichi Auction becomes independent from Mainichi Communications Inc.

(renamed as Mynavi Corporation) The objective of this separation is to vitalize and strengthen our auction business. By concentrating our specialized and well-trained human resources in this field we became overwhelming NO.1 auction house here in Japan with regard to the amount sold, the number of sales and sold lots.
