  • Register before making your bids
  • You can browse all Lots to be sold in our forthcoming auction. If you are interested in buying some of them you are required to register as a member subscriber of Mainichi Auction before making your bids. Registration procedure is very easy and simple. Just fill out our application form and send it to us with your membership fee. (Please refer to “Catalogue Subscription and Registration”)
  • Mainichi Auction Catalogues
  • After receiving your registration form we will send you a copy of full color Mainichi Auction catalogue approximately 2 weeks prior to the auction date. Mainichi Auction catalogue includes color photo of each work to be sold, condition report, size, medium, provenance, appearance in publication, exhibition history and other necessary information to help your decision.
  • Pre sale exhibition
  • Although you can obtain necessary information through our catalogue, the space allocated to each Lot is very limited and we are unable to guarantee that the catalogue description is definitely correct and comprehensive. We, therefore, strongly recommend you to participate in pre-sale exhibition, which is to be held prior to every auction. (Refer to Auction Calendar) You can examine each Lot carefully by your own appreciation and ask any questions to our specialists. We are very happy to discuss any issues of each work. If you are living abroad or unable to attend pre-sale exhibition please contact us by e-mail or phone call. We will examine the Lots, in which you are interested, and send you back all necessary condition report you need through e-mail, telephone or fax.
  • Absentee Bids
  • Even if you are living outside of Japan or cannot participate in Mainichi Auction sale room in Tokyo, you can easily place your bids by sending absentee bids through our website, fax or telephone. Please note that we are not a so-called net auction company. We conduct “real” auction in our saleroom in open auction system.
After receiving your absentee bids, we will follow your stipulated instructions and act on your behalf to try to purchase the piece of your choice for the lowest price possible and never excess of your maximum price indicated in your absentee bids.
FOR EXAMPLE: Even if you placed 1,000,000 yen as your “Maximum Bid”, you can get the piece at the price of auctioneer's next call, maybe, 820,000 yen in the case that the highest bid in the saleroom is 800,000 yen.
  • Through our website
Just go to our forthcoming auction site. You can click any Lot in which you are interested to buy and indicate your Maximum Bid. Then SEND it to us.
  • Fax or mailing
Please use ABSENTEE BIDS FORM attached to the last page of our catalogue. Fill out the form and mail or fax it to us. Please note that our office must receive your absentee bids no later than 6:00 pm Tokyo local time of the day before the auction.
  • Telephone bids
If a prospective buyer make an arrangement with us we shall use reasonable efforts to contact the bidders to enable them to participate in bidding by telephone for the Lots with the set price of the Company. If you need bilingual (English-Japanese) interpreting service, please request us well in advance because the number of bilingual staff and line facility is very limited. The service will be provided on first come first served basis.
  • Bidding in Auction Room
  • On the day of auction, you can enter our auction house by showing your entrance ticket and enjoy exciting and amicable atmosphere of our auction. It is not a complicated procedure to buy items you are interested. You may just follow the direction of our auctioneer and make bid increment according to your pre-designated price zone.
  • Buyer's premium
  • A buyer's premium will be added to the successful bid price and is payable by the purchaser as part of the total purchase price. The buyer's premium is 15% of the hammer price less than 500,000yen of the each lot, plus 10% of the excess of hammer price more than or equal to 500,000yen. Japanese Consumption Tax is charged on the buyer's premium (not on the hammer price) and no consumption tax at all if the buyers are living abroad and exported to buyer's address.
  • Payment and shipping
  • If you become a successful buyer, we will mail you an invoice next day of auction and you will receive it within 3 or 4 days if you are living in Japan. We will fax an invoice immediately after the auction to the successful buyers living abroad because mailing an invoice will take a week or so to reach to the buyers.
You must pay total amount of “Buyer's price” according to our invoice and the payment must be received within ten (10) business days from the date of auction. Bank to bank wire transfer is most desirable for us. Our bank accounts are:
    - BANK: Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Marunouchi Branch
       ACCOUNT NAME: Mainichi Auction, Inc.
       ACCOUNT NUMBER: Current Account 6550793
Please note that we do not accept any credit card in paying Buyer's price. After our confirmation of your payment and upon your request, we can make all shipping arrangements for you. You are responsible for all the charges such as insurance, packing and transportation fee.
  • Terms of guarantee
  • The authenticity of each Lot listed in the catalogue and bought in Mainichi Auction is guaranteed for one year from the date of sale. If the identification of authorship is found substantially incorrect based on a fair reading of the catalogue during this period, the sale of such Lot may be rescinded and the hammer price plus a buyer's premium will be refunded.
